Alex Hamer

Alex Hamer is a photographer drawn to the quiet drama and subtle poetry of the natural world. Working across landscapes, seascapes, macro and wildlife, he uses predominately Sony gear to capture the textures, moods and fleeting moments that define the British wilderness. Much of his inspiration comes while walking and hiking across Dartmoor, the rugged hills of Wales, and the wilder, wind‑shaped corners of the UK. Although Alex often experiments with painterly effects in Photoshop — exploring colour, atmosphere and creative interpretation — his straight photography is exceptional in its own right, grounded in patience, craft and a deep respect for the places he visits. He thrives in good company, sharing early starts and long days with likeminded photographers and friends, usually rounded off with a proper English breakfast and the satisfaction of a day well spent outdoors.
