This piece comes from one of my quiet wanderings through the older streets of Nice on the Cote d’Azure in southern France— the kind of stroll where you’re not searching for anything, just absorbing the warmth and rhythm of the place. I happened to glance up and saw her there: reading, relaxed, framed by sun‑worn shutters and pastel walls that have held decades of Mediterranean light.

There was something beautifully unposed about the moment. No performance, no awareness of being seen — just a private pause unfolding above the street. The faded plaster, the pale shutters, the wrought‑iron balcony… all of it carried the history of long summers and everyday life lived slowly. The light drifted across the scene in that soft, cinematic way the Riviera seems to specialise in.
